New DVD “PEARL 2” by Annie Quadros

Recently I got an opportunity to watch the new DVD “PEARL 2” by Annie Quadros who is known as Pearl of Konkani Stage.  It is scripted, directed and produced by her only.  It was a wonderful job done by Annie inspite of being a female.  On Konkani stage ladies have done great job.  To produce a film is not a joke and for a lady it is more difficult and yet by overcoming all the difficulties Annie Quadros attained a very good success.

In early seventies two sisters Mohana and Ophelia staged their own Tiatro in Bombay and in Goa with the assistance of C. Alvares and more or less during that time only Jessie Dias staged her own Tiatro, of course she had the strong support of her Tiatrist husband Cyriaco.  Thru these two examples I try to indicate the greatness of ladies in this field even though they are ladies.

The story of the film is very good with very good and philosophical dialogues. This shows the high calibre of the script writer Annie Quadros. Every artiste performed his or her role perfectly well but major credit should go to the young girl seen in the picture extreme left and who played the role of Pearl.  Mathew Araujo played his role well so too both the comedians Selvy and Humbert. Small but very philosophical role played by Prince Jacob was worth admiring, it was a philosophical comedy. Hazl also played her role well and the role played by the small boy seen in the picture deserved highest compliments. Daniel D’Souza and Dr. Kiran played their roles well.

This DVD is worth watching.

Annie Quadros I saluté you from Kuwait for producing such a nice film.  Keep going.

UG Trophy: KGA go through next round with a big win

The first match was between FC Sparx and Kuwait Goans Association. FC Sparx started the game well playing a lot of attackin football and troubled the KGA defence.  They had a good chance to take a lead in the game but the KGA keeper did well the keep the ball out of the net. In response KGA started passing well in the midfield and started creating some good chances. Both the teams looked to score in the first half but none were able to find the back of the net.  A long range strike from Agnelo Martins gave the lead to KGA in the first half even though FC Sparx had more shots on target. In the second half KGA started attacking from the whistle and were rewarded instantly by a penalty.  Jesse made no mistake in his penalty kick as his shot was placed away from the keepers reach. KGA began dominating the rest of the match and Agnelo completed his hat-trick. Vitorin scored from closed range as the keeper failed to make a regulation save. The final score was 4-0.

Malabar blank Real Betalbatim
Both the teams started the game defensively and the game was concentrated mostly in the midfield. It was Malabar who had the first shot on target and forced the RBFC keeper to make back to back saves. No.20 Younis broke the deadlock and gave Malabar the lead. Real Betalbatim tried making some changes on the field but they could not get shots on target to trouble the Malabar keeper.

Malabar kept the pressure on and were able to find two more goals. The match ended 3-0.

Curtocares carry on with a solid performance
Skynet scored from a free kick by Ismail in the first minute. Curtocares were taken by suprising and began dominating possession and were playing some good through balls. The strength of Skynet could not match up to the speed with which Curtocares moved the ball around the field. Curtocares scored three goals in the first half and showed some great skill. Skynet managed to get a goal back from manuel but Curtorcares scored another goal towards the dying minutes of the game to make sure there would be no come back. The goalscorers for Curtocares were Vincy(2), Minguel and Cleto.

Schedule of matches for 4th Jan, please not changes in match timings as per KIFF verbal notifications:

A.V.C  Vs DON BOSCO  6:45am
K.G.A  Vs Malabar United  8:15am
DHL Vs. Goa Maroons 9:45am

KONKANI DVD "BARAVEM STHAN" BY TRINIDADE FERNANDES.

Just today I watched a nice and interesting Konkani DVD produced under LOTTU Productions by Trinidade Fernandes from Colva. It comprises songs and short comedy Skits.

The producer Trinidade is the composer of all the interesting and meaningful songs which are rendered by all the well-known Konkani Stage artistes namely Rose Ferns, Anthony San, Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes, Comedian Selvy, Comedian Jannet and her husband, Felcy, Ancieto and Roma. The comedy Skits are done by Comedian Jannet, Comedian Selvy and Comedian Ambe.

All the songs are well rendered and all are beautiful. The producer and composer Trinidade himself rendered two beautiful songs which are both excellent; one “Ugddas” in which he eulogised his late father Lottu Agostinho who once was a well-known "Khell Tiatrist" and the others whom he eulogized are his villagers the late comedian Peter D’Costa and the late Rosary Ferns. The second solo he rendered was on Jesus Christ which is the most beautiful song because its words are beautiful and rendered also very beautifully with his sweet and serene voice. This is the first time I see him singing and I can rightly say he is one of the best Konkani artistes with vast potential to promote Konkani Stage Art.

Musical score was beautifully provided by Lenoy Gomendes.

This DVD is available in Kuwait City at one of the Video Shops. It is worth watching.
