INDIAN RUPEE IS SINKING.. IS INDIA ALSO SINKING?

Indian Rupee is sinking now. Is India also sinking? It looks like. There is a shortage of Dollar reserves in India because there is a shortage in export from India.  Mineral Ore is also stopped moving from Goa and this affected the constant flow of Dollars into the Coffers of India. Bangladeshi Taka, Philipino Peso and Pakistani Rupee as well as Sri Lankan fetch better rate than Indian currency. The demand for Indian products outside India is fallen while demand for outside products for India’s consumption is increased thereby Dollar reserves from India is flowing out.

Onion prices are gone up like that of many other products in India because there is a shortage of Onions cultivation in India.  One reason for this is the shortage of Onions agricultural land which is taken over by the big builders to construct big buildings for commercial purpose.  Another reason is this that there is a manpower shortage in Onions cultivation because farmers stopped farming since they got educated and diversified their profession to something else that fetch them better dividends.

Hence, there is a shortage of Onions in India whereby the sellers increase their prices which pinched Indian consumers financially. This forced the Indian government to import Onions from outside by paying Dollars from Indian reserves. This is just one example of one product Onions.

India needs Dollar currency to import important and key products from outside India, Oil import is one such key product which is very costly and India needs it in a very big quantity since India is the biggest consumer of imported Oil. This means India needs a very big amount of Dollars for this import.  At the moment India is in short supply of Dollar reserves which is in high demand while Indian Rupee is become like a dirt, very cheap, nobody wants it because its market value is gone very low.

In view of this, India must make all out efforts to increase its exports to accumulate Dollars and not to sleep on this topic as it is done now. India is a mighty atomic power and industrial giant having a Harvard educated Finance Minister Chidambaram plus Premier Singh who is considered as one of the best economists in the world.  What they are doing now to uplift Indian Rupee from totally drowning and thereby taking the country into the deep sea? What Congress government is doing now to eradicate the woes of the common men who are facing the price rise in India while Chidambarams & Sings are enjoying everything free of charge at the cost of tax payers’ money?

According to the available information there are billions of Dollars in black money kept in deposit in overseas banks by the corrupt Indian politicians illegally, this is the looted money from India.  For example Rajas as Indian Minister signed a deal with one Arab country for an “X” amount to be paid to Indian government officially and above it, a certain percentage for him as commission which as per his instruction to be deposited by the Arab country in the personal account of Rajas in the foreign bank in dollar currency. This is a loot and this money is the looted Indian money deposited in overseas bank in Rajas’ account. It is in crores and not a small amount.

Sometime back a corrupt Goan politician came to Kuwait with an entourage of his family members and friends.  This trip cost him about a crore of rupees which he collected in Kuwait from his friends in Dollars and ultimately the same he deposited in his personal account in Swiss Bank while its equivalent in Indian Rupees he paid to his friends in Goa.  The money he paid in Rupees in Goa were the looted money from Goa thru kick-backs and commissions he received from the government contracts as a Minister in Goa.

It is a must now for Indian government thru legal process to bring back this money from overseas banks deposited there illegally thru corruption by the corrupt politicians.  Social activist Anna Hazare was also stressing on this illegal money to bring back to India.  It is Dollars that are very much required in India now to increase India’s quota of Dollars to overcome the Rupee downfall and thus save India’s economy.

According to my information, at the time of independence of India in 1947, the value of one Dollar was approximately equal to one Rupee.  So why the Rupee has fallen so low now? Do we need British economists to stabilise Indian Rupee rate? If yes, let us call them back because Indian corrupt politicians are not interested in the well being of India. At least colonialist will do our job better.

Sometime back to stabilise its currency and economy, Cyprus Apex Bank sold a huge amount of its Gold reserves and accumulated big amount of Dollars.  Can’t Indian Reserve Bank act similarly to get more and more Dolars?

It is a time now for top Indian economists especially for Indian Financé Minister to introduce strong measures to save Indian economy from collapsing.

WORLD CLASS ATHLETES FROM JAMAICA AT MOSCOW MEET.

World Athletics Championship this year held successfully at Moscow in Russia has just been concluded.  Kudos to Russia for organising this Championship so successfully.  The hero of this Championship came out again the sprinter Usain Bolt from Jamaica and again the black skin power came out dominant, in Track and Field events, the Black Power out beat White Power thereby again proving its excellence in sports.

In any Athletics Meet, 100 Metres sprint and 100 x 4 Sprint Relay are the 2 most interesting and exciting events to know who is the fastest man on this planet individually and which is the fastest quartet of this planet respectively.  Because of this interest in this Meet every eye was focused on these two events.  Individually Usain Bolt regained his supremacy as the fastest man of this planet.

Now,  regarding the 4 x 100 Relay, its whole magic depends not much on running fastest as you can but more on the  mode and efficiency of handing over of Batons to the next sprinter.

Throughout my scholastic career at Arpora and at St. Xavier's College Mapusa, I was a deep athlete as fastest runner of Goa and an individual champion of Goa.  My glorious days in this field were during my school career where I was guided in this field by that genius Principal of the School, the late Fr. Philippe Neri Mendonca. During those days till my last participation, Arpora School always won the championship by focusing more on both the Relays which fetched more marks to win the overall championship.

Taking this view into consideration, Fr. Mendonca personally used to guide us how to exchange the Batons and we all the 4 representatives of the school used to pass the Baton to the next runner with lightning speed without any pause or slowing down while passing the Baton. Everyone used to admire us then and I was always the first runner creating a lead in the beginning itself while second was Shelu, third Andre Joao both from Calangute and the last was Peter from Parra.

Speaking on the efficiency of this Relay team, Fr. Mendonca once said, such a magnificent quartet he has never seen before in Goa though there were gigantic runners and sprinters in Goa.

The purpose of this write-up is to comment on the efficiency of Jamaican Relay team of 100 x 4 that won the Gold Medal in the just concluded Moscow Meet. Though this Relay Team won the first place for Jamaica yet according to me it had some flaws and not perfect in its efficiency. If Fr. Mendonca was alive now he would surely agree with  my view point though this Relay Team was trained by the world best trainers to create world best Relay Team.

Its first flaw was of slowing down at the time of changing the Baton to the next sprinter.  Its second flaw was receiving the Baton in one hand and then transferring it to the other hand thereby changing the concentration to this process of transferring the Baton from one hand to the other thus slowing down of the speed. And its third flaw was taking more time to look behind at the sprinter carrying the Baton.

Among all the 4 sprinters, Usain Bolt alone was perfect in his methods and again he was the hero of this golden Relay team of Jamaica. In this Relay Team there was not only one Usain Bolt but 4 Usain Bolts and precisely because of this Jamaica won the Gold Medal.

India is having such a vast population with such a vast geographical boundaries compared to tiny Jamaica and yet India cannot produce world class athletes means something difficult to digest. Jamaica creates topmost athletes in the world both in male as well as in female domain. India is still taking shelter and pleasure in creating one Milkha Singh and one P.T. Usha some years ago even though neither of  them won any Olympic Medal. In this Meet at Moscow, India sent a powerful team of 15 athletes who all returned home empty handed and powerless.

I feel India must hire the know-how and trainer from Jamaica to train Indian athletes especially when they are very young.  At the age of 16 Usain Bolt started creating ripples in running whence he was entrusted with the efficient trainers who moulded him into the World best with the help of world best facilities. India can also send its budding athletes to Jamaica for further advanced training and thus produce best of athletes both in male and female ranks.

When I ran the fastest 100 metres and created a record for Goa and became individual champion of Goa, I was just 17.  And this feat I attained on my own efforts without any guidance of a qualified professional coach. If at that time I was picked up by the concerned authorities for further professional training, God knows where I would reach.  Like me there are many young boys and girls rotting in the absence of proper avenues, guidance and facilities.

Gulf Arabs became powerful soccer Powers in Asia only because of the best of soccer training methods and facilities they hired from Brazilian soccer.

INDEPENDENCE FOR GOA FROM BHARAT.

Many of our Goans holder of foreign Passports and cozily settled down in the West are questioning me, saying “why I am not leading a movement in support of the independence of Goa from the illegal occupation by India”?

Their contention is this that since I spearheaded the movement in Goa to create awareness in India for the liberation of Kuwait, so, why I cannot do the movement for getting independence for Goa?”
Their second contention is this that since from Kuwait I struggled to get Statehood for Goa,  hence, why can’t I do similarly for independence for Goa?

Through this forum, I counter question them by asking, “Why can’t they do the same by being abroad?”  Somebody is telling me that Veronica you are a coward and because you are so you are not touching this topic.

In fact I will be the happiest person if Goa is independent nation because by being a part of Bharat, Goa is losing its identity and characteristics existing prior to December 1961. I feel hurt to see the difference between Goa then and Goa now and also Goans then and Goans now under the command of Bharat.

In half a century of Bharati domination Goa lost 50% of its pristine attributes and by the time Goa completes a century under Bharati rule, Goa will be totally submerged into Bharati attributes, namely: culturally, socially, linguistically, demographically, physically and in all other aspects. Then Goa will lose its total identity and become like any other part of India with all corrupt Bharati attributes.

If it was not for our campaign and our financial support from Kuwait Goan community, Konkani movement would never gained the push that it did gained.  For the success of Konkani movement in Goa,  Gulf Goans in general and Kuwait Goans  in particular played a stellar role while our brothers in the West remained silent observers without contributing anything. When Konkani got success by being official language of Goa then only Goa was conferred with Statehood.  At least the Soul of Goa was saved by getting separate Statehood thereby permanently eradicating the fear of Goa’s merger with Marathi Maharastra.

Otherwise from the ongoing trend in Goa the current Goan politicians for a price would sell Goa to Maharastra by even surpassing Bandodkar’s strategy of merging Goa with Maharastra.

What Bandodkar and his MGP could not attain the current money greedy corrupt Goan politicians would do for a price.  They would not mind selling Goa to Maharastra;  some of the  Goan politicians are known even to sell their wives and daughters for money and political power.  Some of the current Goan politicians belonging to some of the political parties are of this dirty character.

It must be noted carefully that Veronica was not the only architect of the success of Goa-Kuwait Solidarity movement in Goa in support of the liberation of Kuwait.  In this successful movement Caetano Joao from Merces, Manuel Fernandes from St. Cruz, Sheih Agnelo from Agacaim, Roland Martins from Mapusa and many others patriotic to this cause played a stellar role, no doubt Veronica initiated this movement but the entire success of it cannot be attributed to Veronica alone though Veronica played a majestic role in this movement as none played.

Thru this movement Kuwait Goans did not physically liberate Kuwait from the illegal occupation by Iraq but surely created a strong awakening in favour of the liberation for Kuwait thereby bringing heavy pressure on Indian government to toe its line in support of Kuwait’s liberation since in the beginning India’s stand  on this issue was Hamletic.

Similarly Veronica was not the only person for the success of Konkani movement in Kuwait starting from "Novem Goem" movement.  Besides Veronica,  Alexander Fernandes and A.B. Fernandes both from Colva Salcette played stellar role to attain success for Novem Goem movement.  Additionally Avertano Furtado, local Tiatrists and other Goans too played their part very well for the success of Novem Goem movement in particular and Konkani movement in general.

Many of those who played stellar role in the promotion of Konkani movement from Kuwait are living a retired life in Goa but nobody on forefront in running the Konkani movement in Goa remembers these ex Kuwaitkars.  To locate them in Goa you need not need a Binocular, they should not be treated as forgotten heroes of Konkani movement in Kuwit. Even the efforts of the Dogs of Konkani promoters in Goa are highlighted in Goa by the Goa based Konkani associations but of none from Kuwait in particular and Gulf in general for promoting the cause of Konkani from Kuwait in particular and from the Gulf in general.

Coming back to those Goenkars holding foreign passports and settled down in the West, many of them will remain only talking Goans, doing nothing concrete for Goa. Most of them have even sold their ancestral houses and properties to non-Goans in Goa leaving no traces of their Goanness and on top of it how they gather courage to talk of their affiliation to Goa?  Some of them will pen down their majestic ideas on internet because its access is free of charge.

At least we thru our movements from Kuwait saved Goan “Kaxtti” to protect our private parts otherwise Marathivadis from Maharastra would bare our Marbles even in Ratnagiri and Malwan.

Recently there was a huge gathering in UK for one Goan festival where everyone was nostalgic of Goa by depicting Goa.  But what have they done for Goa to protect their roots in Goa?   How many of them bade final adieu to Goa by disposing of their ancestral houses and properties? Will they and their children return to their roots?

With their money power they should purchase Goan land and properties, construct hotel and small scale  industries.  At least Kuwait Goans joined together and by pulling their financial resources started hotel industry in Goa.

Very shortly there will be Goa Day marked around the expatriates Goan arena.  What will be its purpose?  To dance and eat Goan Sorpotel and depict Ballroom Dance as Goan culture? Or to do Goan awakening to protect Goa and Goan interest in Goa?  The promoters of Goa Day will do nothing worthwhile for Goa and Goans in Goa as in the past they have done nothing. I have no hope in West settled Goans with foreign passports to do anything better for Goa.

Those who are questioning me by remaining in the West with foreign passports, I advise them to form a group, come under one banner to fight for justice for Goa from the illegal annexation of Goa by Bharat and raise this issue forcefully in the West.  Give a memorandum to the UN because many of you are closer to the location of the UN.  Let there be a noise and debates that side because that side is more important to make Goan voice more audible. Making noise in the West will give better dividends.

Even Francis Luis Gomes about 200 years back made noise for the cause of Goa by campaigning in the West including in France and it created good dividends. Let the world know the genuine grievances of Goans. It is easy for West settled Goans holding foreign passports  to raise this issue than for Goans in Goa or in the Gulf holding Indian Passports.

Can any west settled Goan come forward for this job?  Sermonising me and others will not help. What we did for Goan causes from Kuwait in particular and from other Gulf countries is unique and unforgettable even though Goa based Konkani leaders pretend to be ignorant of this fact.

When we organized Rallies in Panjim for the cause of Kuwait, none of the Konkani leaders and promoters supported us openly by joining in our rallies when we from Kuwait so much helped the Konkani movement in Goa. They failed to support us when we needed it. When we laughed they too laughed with us but when we cried they still went on laughing only oblivious of our tragedy.  It is a sign of ingratitude. Will such people appreciate the wonderful job done by Kuwait Goans for the cause of Konkani? Never.
