TIATRO “TWINKLE TWINKLE LITTLE STAR”

Yesterday,  on 1^st of this month, in Candolim at  Orda St. Cruz,  I saw this Tiatro of  Jr.Reagan starting at 8.45 PM instead of at 8.00 PM.  It was sponsored by the Candolim Panch member Mr. Blaize.

The Tiatro was very well enacted by all the artistes who looked more seasoned than  most of the seasoned ones. All credit to writer and  director Reagan to create a perfect homogeneous troupe that was trained so well to dish out so well performance in which the major credit should go to Reagan himself for playing a “captain inning” appropriately.  The others who deserve major compliments for playing their roles beautifully was the beautiful heroine Crostina  who  was like a shining star in the constellation opposite to her handsome hero.  As usual veteran Chitra with her majestic physique played the role of a mother  perfectly well giving an added booster to this Tiatro and she was ably supported by Rosario Botelho as her husband. Lovely looking with excellent actress’ personality Valencia did her role well.  Andrew played his role extremely well as mentally deranged man. The grandfather’s role played so appropriately by Justino deserve top compliments.

The comedy part was well handled by all the three comedians Aurelius and his other two partners.

In the Side Show songs the audience was well entertained with variety of songs namely solos, duos, trios and duet in which Reagan, Baba Cielo, Andrew, Chitra and others captured the audience attention.  The 4 political songs rendered were of very high class.

This Tiatro is worth seeing since the story is surrounded on two lovers – Crostina coming from rich family and her boyfriend Reagan coming from poor family background because of which he is not accepted by the parents of his girlfriend. Ultimately the end becomes very pathetic which one has to see by seeing this Tiator “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.

SALVADOR SILVEIRA.

One of the greatest sensations of Konkani Stage today is none other than Salvador Silveira from Calangute, Bardez, Goa.  Besides being a Tiatrist of very high caliber having abundant talent of writing and directing  good Tiatros and also composing and singing finest songs, he is a strong proponent of modern day Zagor in a  changed fashion giving a very decent outlook of Zagor thus attracting lot of audience from elite background. His Zagors attract innumerable people from every segment of Goan society especially the young and the modern generation.  All his Zagors are staged in his village Calangute, not only yearly once but even twice and thrice.   

As a Tiatrist, he acted in Tiatro when he was just 10 in his locality when he took part in his school Tiatro.  At 15 he started composing and singing his own songs.  “PAPI  SAMAZ” was his first Tiatro he staged in 1986.  In all he wrote  6 Tiatros and  all were staged in his village Calangute and for charitable causes. As a singer and Tiatrist, he acted in over 100 Tiatros along with most of the top artistes namely Alfred and Rita Rose, Ophelia Cabral, Phiomena Braz, Titta Pretto and others, both in Goa as well as in Bombay.  As a composer, he composed over 500 songs, some of which were given to others to sing.   

According to my observation, he is easily the fastest composer of songs and as such I can rightly call him the JET SPEED COMPOSER OF KONKANI SONGS. If anyone wants to check this, please have an open contest and prove me wrong.

To keep his art for posterity, he produced 8 Konkani Song Albums, 4  VCD’s and 4 CD’s and as per the feed-back, all are liked by the people. Besides he helped many producers in composing songs for their Tiatros as well as for their Albums.

My admiration goes for Salvador Silveira more because of his contribution in the development and promotion of ZAGOR which he stages regularly  in his village, Calangute at different locations. The importance of his Zagors is this that he introduced lot of innovations in his Zagors.  In his Zagors you see some of the participating artistes are elite and educationally qualified even graduates.  Some of the females participating in his Zagors are graduates too and with sophisticate background.  In his Zagors you will not easily see vulgarity in action nor in words as it was known in earlier days.  The songs rendered in his Zagors are of very high standard, all these songs are composed by him   only. And the musical score provided in his Zagors is of very high standard.  This music consists of Gumott, Madyem and Kanxaem played by the seasoned musicans whom Salvador Silveira guides and directs.

His next Zagor is scheduled on 5^th of May this year at Calangute  which is going to be a great success in performance wise as well as audience wise. Within the last three months Salvador staging three Zagors means a great job deserving highest compliments. 

In Goa, there are so many organizations to promote and to award the promoters of Konkani cultural art but it is surprising to note that up to now no organization came forward to recognize Salvador Silveira’s contribution to Tiatro and Zagor Art.  It is time now to recognize his immense contribution in the promotion of Tiatro and Zagor Art.

In his personal life, Salvador Silveira is a successful businessman.

BMM MARK 17TH ANNIVERSARY OF VANXIM SALE.

Yesterday in Panjim at T.B. Cunha Hall, at 3.15 PM, I attended the meeting organized by “BHARAT MUKTI MORCHA” to commemorate the 17th anniversary of the sale of Vanxim Island by the corrupt leaders of the Goa Church, the sinful Archbishops of Goa. In this sin, both the Goan Bishops are involved, namely Archbishop Raul Gonsalves who paved the way for the entry for corruption, Liquour and sex in the Church hierarchy and Archbishop Felipe Neri Ferrao whose craze as alleged for money is exorbitant. On this date, 9th of April in 1999 the agreement to sell Vanxim Island to Mahendra Gaunekar by Raul Gonsalves was signed. As per this agreement, Raul Gonsalves agreed to sell 4,85,400 sq. mtrs. of land consisting of paddy fields and Bunds to Mahendra Gaunekar. This fact is recorded in the document of Sale Deed executed on 11th February 2006 between Arch. Felipe Neri Ferrao and Mahendra Gaunekar.


It was disgusting to know that these supposed to be the holy men of Goa Church never communicated this sale of Vanxim Island to the people of Vanxim till today. Moreover, the Bishop House called the residents of Vanxim Island as “so called tenants” when in reality they are real Mundkars. I fail to understand how the holy men of Bishop House degenerated into Devil men for the sake of money? I am sure, these both Archbishops of Goa – one retired and the current, one day if they get an opportunity, they will even sell the entire Roman Catholicism to any other denomination. They are both worst than Judas. They both have betrayed not only the people of Vanxim but also the entire Catholic community from Goa. Can we accept such traitors as our leaders? How can we trust such cunning and sinful Catholic leaders?

This Goa Church is on record to oppose sinful and vulgar tourism industry in Goa. But now how this same Church under the money crazy leader Ferrao gave its nod to promote tourism in Vanxim comprising sinful Golf Course, Casinos, Private Marinas, Recreational Clubs, Real Estate Villas and Five Star Hotels? Does the Canon Law permit Goa Church to sell its land to promote such sin oriented activities? As per my information, Canon Law gives its nod to sell Church properties only for the purpose of devine worship, charity works and such other decent activities”.

During the meeting Press Conference was held and the same was addressed by the president of BMM Mrs. Maggie Silveira. Earlier Sebastian Rodrigues welcomed the guests and explained the purpose of the meet. The others who spoke during the meeting were Shradda Kassar of Nestle Contract Worker and Joseph D’Silva from Chandor.
