I AM ASHAMED TO BE AN INDIAN CITIZEN.

Today, 15th August is the Independence Day of India. I send my greetings to all the Indians who are really proud to be Indians and wish them all and all the best to India as well.

Indian citizenship was imposed on me by Nehru’s Congress Government in December 1961. Since I had no choice I have accepted it because it was forced on me thru the use of military force used by the Indian Government from Delhi headed by Nehru. As a Goan I was never a part of India headed by Delhi. After current India use military force to drive away Portuguese from Goa, I with no choice had to become the part of now corrupt India. It hurts me to be a part of such a corrupt country manned by corrupt politicians. India is the most disgraceful country because of its highest level of corruption. Though India is a rich country yet its richness is devoured by the few “chor” politicians. The best of India’s benefits are enjoyed by a handful of disgraceful politicians. The nations wealth meant for the entire Indian populace is cornered by the few politicians for them and for their family members. The Indian politicians are living and acting like former Maharajas of India or more than that at the cost of the poor Indians. These corrupt politicians having record of robberies, crimes and other ill doings are ruling India now. What good can one expect from these rascal politicians?

I feel ashamed to declare that I am a citizen of this country which is ruled by rascals who are rascalising this great country to suit their own benefits. Unemployment is rampant in India. Politicians are voted not on the basis of their caliber to create employment opportunities for the jobless Indians but on the basis of their money and muscle power. Indian politicians are so bad that they have not only seized the votes of the citizens by money and muscle power but they have seized the voters bodily and soully as well. Voters are no more independent in India; they are made slaves by their candidates who control them bodily and soully. Average and poor Indian is not independent in India. The fruits of independence India got in 1947 have not reached to these classes of Indians. They are very much dependent on their masters who are ruling India. The meaning of independence is a joke for them as it is for me.

Minorities are treated as slaves in India and there is no protection for their lives in India. US Human Rights Agency has already blacklisted India as greatest violators of human rights. Minorities especially Christians are living in fear in India, so too Muslims. I don’t believe in reality Indians are independent. Prior to August 15th 1947 Indians were slaves of British and now they are slaves of Indian Politicians and corrupt Indian political system. There is no hope left for poor Indians and minorities to get justice from this so called independent India manned by the corrupt political leaders. I am as a citizen of India is very much dejected because I have no hope India will give justice to the minorities, justice to the poor and justice to the weak and suppressed.

I regret to be a citizen of India which is so corrupt and regretfully this system is accepted by one and all, either voluntarily or involuntarily. God alone can save poor and weak Indians and God alone can save India from disaster which will surely fall on India either today or tomorrow because the foundation for this disaster is already laid by the corrupt politicians of India who are shamelessly rulingIndia.

QUOTES FROM JINNAH'S SPEECHES.

Today, 14th August is the independence day of Pakistan. I wish Pakistan and its citizens all the best.

Herebelow, I am reproducung from today's Arab Times, "Quotes from Quaid's (Mohammad Ali Jinnah) Speeches". Are these statements indicated in his speeches delivered then relevant in today's Pakistan where minorities especially Christians are not only discriminated but harassed, tortured and killed on baseless grounds? Do the minorities in Pakistan require another Jinnah to protect them and if yes, who he will be and when he will come? When minorities are already uprooted from Pakistani soil?

Besides, Jinnah declared peaceful co-existence with Pakistan's immediate neighbours. Is it happening in reality? Supporting terrorism on Indian soil thru Pakistani terrorists is a sign of peaceful co-existence? Or with Jinnah's death this noble principle was dead and gone!!

A. Veronica Fernandes,
Kuwait.

"We are starting in the days when there is no discrimination, no distinction between one community and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. We are starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal citizens of one State.
The people of England in course of time had to face the realities of the situation and had to discharge the responsibilities and burdens placed upon them by the government of their country and they went through that fire step by step. Today, you might say with justice that Roman Catholics and Protestants do not exist; what exist now is that every man is a citizen, and equal citizen of Great Britain and they are all members of the nation.

Now, I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in course of time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual but in the political sense as citizens of the state.

I do not wish to take up any more of your time and thank you again for the honour you have done to me. I shall always be guided by the principles of justice and fair play without any, as is put in the political language, prejudice or ill-will, in other words, partiality or favouritsm. My guding principles will be justice and complete impartiality, and I am sure that with your support and co-operation, I can look forward to Pakistan becoming one of the greatest Nations of the world". (Presidential Address to the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan on 11th August, 1947).

" It will be our constant endeavour to work for the welfare and well-being of all the communities in Pakistan, and I hope that everyone would be inspired by the idea of public service, and they will be imbued with the spirit of co-operation and will excel in their political and civic virtues which go to make a great nation and help to advance its greatness" (Speech on the inauguration of the Pakistan Constituent Assembly on 14th August 1947).

"Our object should be peace within and peace without. We want to live peacefully and maintain cordial and friendly relations with our immediate neighbours and with the world at large. We have no aggressive design against any one. We stand by the United Nations Charter and will gladly make our full contribution to the peace and prosperity of the world.

This day marks the end of a poignant phase in our national history and it should also be the beginning of a new and a noble era. Let us impress the minorities by word, deed and thought that as long as they fulfill their duties and obligations as loyal citizens of Pakistan, they have nothing to fear. To the freedom loving tribes on our borders and States beyond our borders, we send our greetings and assure that Pakistan will respect their status and will extend to them its most friendly co-operation in preserving peace. We have no ambition beyond the desire to live honourably and others live honourably.

Pakistan is a land of great potential resources. But to build it up into a country worthy of the Muslim nation, we shall require every ounce of energy that we possess and I am confident that it will come from all whole-heartedly.

Pakistan Zindabad!"
(Excerpts from speech on the occasion of the inauguration of the Pakistan Broadcasting Service.

"CALANGUTE" ALBUM. MY GRATITUDE - By Jerry Cal.

NEW CD “CALANGUTE” by Jerry Cal

A famous quote by T Dwett says “Mother-that was the bank where we deposited all our hurts and worries”. The inspiration behind the release of my first Konkani Album “Calangute” was my mother Carmelina Fernandes who passed away in July 2004. The song “Address” was one of her all time favorites and was composed by me in 1989, the song “Niz Mog” was a duet which was sang by my wife and me several times over the span of 35 married years for different Konkani Nite’s organized in the UAE.

Behind every successful man is a woman and I would like to opportunity to express my gratitude to my wife - Teresa Fernandes for all the support she gave me from the time of composing the song till now.

I would like to raise a special thanks to Maestro Josinho who with his impeccable style and alignment of the music to the vocals has added to the listening pleasure of the album. It would be disrespectful if I do not express my appreciation to the support provided by Rosary Ferns, Mathias Mascheranas and Pascoal de Calangute and their undying dedication to the completion of the album, in a week at the recording Magic Touch studio Margao. I also thank to all the singers who have taken part in by singing from their heart and making a great success of my first Konkani album “CALANGUTE”.

I would like to say a special thanks to Anthony Veronica for the beautiful and excellent review on kranti, also I thank Remmie Fernandes and special thanks to Eusebio Rebello as after hearing my CD he was so happy and he gave good comments. Last but not the least to all my well wishers for their interest in promoting the album by word of mouth. The total sale of the album has touched 450 all over the UAE and continues to go on………

Best Regards,
