NEW AUDIO CD "SAIBINN AMCHI MAIM" BY LAWRY TRAVASSO.

The newly released Konkani Audio Album “SAIBINN AMCHI MAIM”  of the well-known Konkani Stage artiste Lawry Travasso came to my hand and immediately listening to all the 13 songs composed by Lawry Travasso himself, I found it one of the best Albums in the recent history of Konkani Albums.  All the songs are meaningful and full of matter and they are all rendered by Lawry and Lorna.  Out of 13 songs, 2 are beautiful duets Lawry rendered with Lorna and 2 solos rendered by Lorna herself with her melodious voice and the remaining all are solos rendered by Lawry Travasso.

Musical score for this Album was provided by the famous musician Norman Cardozo and it was recorded at Magic Touch Studio, Goa.

As a mattter of fact all the songs are worth listening yet I can select as the best the title song “Saibinn Amchi Maim” by Lawry Travasso where he pays highest respect to Mother Mary by hard hitting those who ignore Saibinn Maim.  Lorna’s solo highlighting the greatness of the late Chris Perry is something unique.  Both the duets “Oh Carol” and “Zolmanchea Dissa” rendered by Lawry & Lorna are exceptionally fantastic and pleasing to the ears. The solos “Facebook”, “Tornatteank Lissaum” and “Online” by Lawry Travasso are very educative.

After Chris Perry, Lorna rendered songs given to her by different composers but what Lawry Travasso composed for her are in class of Chris Perry.  Precisely because of this excellent talent, Lawry Travasso remains tall as composer and also a singer on Konkani Stage.

This Album is available for sale in Mapusa costing Rs. 150/-

Well done Lawry Travasso.  Your Album is worth listening and worth admiring.

FUNERAL OF DOMNICK DE TERAKOL.

FUNERAL OF DOMNICK DE TERAKOL HELD YESTERDAY   AT TERAKOL-GOA.

A section of the faithful in the Church

“LUTTINI LOKH ANI LOTTANI DHUKAM”, that was the scene for the funeral of Domnick de Terakol, yesterday 13th of this month at 3.00 PM.  It was a multitude of people around 1000, from different faiths  and coming from all over Goa.  According to some elders, never in the history of Terakol such a mammoth attendance gathered for any funeral in that village.  Why Terakol, rarely one could witness such a mighty gathering anywhere in Goa especially for a man who carry no official or diplomatic status.  In fact, his simplicity, sincerity and zeal to fight for the social causes were his  official status.  His fight against mighty hoteliers, the Leading Hotels Co. made him a hero not only of Terakol but also of the suppressed people of entire Goa by the Non-Goans. In fact in his death he became greater hero of Goa.

Seen are the innumerable priests in the Church.

There was no place in the Church even to stand nor to walk on way to the cemetery.  There were priests and priests, intellectuals, social workers,  politicians and others attending his funeral purely to respect the sacrifices this man made for the sake of his village and Goa.  It was nice to see even the Archbishop of Goa, Filipe Neri Ferrao concelebrating the Holy Mass and showering enormous praises on the deceased for the good work he did in the service of society for the right cause.

Another section of the faithful in the Church

The sermon preached by the local parish priest Fr. Theo summarized the late Domnick’s works into three categories: 1st he said Domnick was a Tiatrist, secondly he said Domnick was an Activist and thirdly Domnick was a Sis (deciple of Christianity). He in his homily even raised the issue of the ongoing tussle in Terakol and the use of nasty Bouncers against the locals as we all know about it.

Outside the Church seen are Reginaldo Lourenco & Kaunte among others

In his thanks giving speech, the priest son of the late Domnick, Fr. Daniel coming from Rome for the funeral, spoke very philosophically and intellectually about the virtues and characteristics of his late father,  putting more stress on the work his father did for the good of Terakol residents. It was a sheer pleasure to listen to such an excellent oratory.
Body is taking to the Cemetery for burial

Among others there were some politicians attended the funeral, namely Trajan D’mello and Jose Philipe D’Souza from NCP and MLA’s Rohan Kaunte, Naresh Sawal and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco while Luizinho Faleiro  paid a hurried visit to Domnick’s residence before the funeral.

Priests are following to the Cemetery

Lourenco and Faleiro must know that it was their Congress Party in the beginning that welcomed the Leading Hotels Co. in Terakol and precisely because of this the entire problem crept in Terakol even taking away one precious life of a precious Goan,  the late Domnik de Terakol. In such a situation offering of condolences is the cheap mode of gaining cheap goodwill but people from Terakol and elsewhere are fully aware the worth of the Crockodile tears.
Seen proceeding to the Cemetery among others are Trajano & Jose Philip

In his statement Luizinho Faleiro said that “Tiatro fraternity has lost a great performer who stood for his rights”.  Unfortunately to my knowledge I did not see any prominent nor known Tiatrist attending the funeral. By the way, how they will?  They must have already felt pigmies in front of the mighty Domnick the Terakol who genuinely falls into the category of great intellectuals of which type there is none in the Tiatro fraternity now.  This being the case, how they will understand the worth of the great Domnick de Terakol?  Only the Goldsmith knows  the real worth of the Gold and Diamond.
Musicians in the funeral procession

May the Heavenly God give eternal rest to the soul of our dear, the late Domnick de Terakol and courage to his family members to bear this colossal loss.

Seen is the Cemetery

ADEUS DOMNICK - ADEUS ZUZARI GOENKARA.

Tiracol is one of the beautiful spots of Goa where there is a wonderful Fort facing the beautiful sea.  This land is gifted with different types of fruits mainly the Caju and medicinal plants.  It was in 1959 when I was a small boy I saw this place first time, it was during our Portuguese School excursion trip to this area.  Three years back when I was on my annual vacation from Kuwait I came to this area for the wedding of one of our neighbours who got married to a girl related to the late Domnick de Teracol.  While raising the Toast he rendered such a beautiful song especially composed on the subject that I had no choice but to hug him and congratulate him. Then he asked me my name and when I did so, he too hugged me recognizing me as a writer who wrote exhaustively on Tiatros and songsters.  He was a very well-known singer during his earlier days, composing good songs and rendering them with his mellifluent voice. Thru Tiatro and songs he showed his love for Konkani, Goa and his locality Terakol.  Terakol is a small village comprising about 400 inhabitants residing in about 100 houses.  Almost all the residents of Terakol are Catholics living as strong homogenous entity.

Today in the morning I along with Dalvi visited Terakol to Domnick’s place to offer our condolences to his family members, one of his sons who is a priest is scheduled to reach Goa tomorrow morning from Rome for the funeral fixed at 3.00 PM tomorrow, 13th inst. As per my information, on Thursday 9th inst. in the morning he had a pain in his chest because of this he was taken to a private Hospital in Mapusa, conducted all the necessary tests satisfactorily.  However, by 5 PM his situation worsened and late in the same evening he breathed his last.

In his life he was always a fighter from the Konkani Stage singing songs against injustice in Goan social life and of late he fought a strong battle against the Leading Hotels that is snatching the land from his village Terakol thru fraudulent means.  Before his death according my information he told his son “I will rather prefer to cut my hands than to surrender my rights to Leading Hotels Co.”.  He even advised his son never to surrender to the Leading Hotels Co.

As per my conversation I found his son and others very sincere to their cause and they will never surrender to the Leading Hotels Co. advances.  However, to fortify their hands it is also our duty as Goans spread not only all over Goa and India but also all over the World to support the Terakol villagers in their fight against the Leading Hotels.  If it is for Terakol today then tomorrow it can be for any other village in Goa.  As it is I have already seen with my own eyes how the Leading Hotels Company with the help of the hired goondas and Bouncers forcibly made a road for their vehicles, of course illegally.  They have even hired a Dada from Andra to threathen to locals from opposing their project.  We have to challenge this non Goan now only by uniting all Goans from everywhere.

Goa based Goans must support the Terkol locals by joining them physically in opposing this project and Goans based in USA must use their contacts to approach the parent company of Leading Hotels in USA and inform  them of the violations their subsidiary are conducting in Goa.  Many Goans in USA are on high positions and they must act now.

Next election is coming now soon and every true Goan must make this Terakol issue as one of the main election issues.  We must not elect the party that is responsible for the Terakol fiasco.

The late Domnick de Terakol according to one source was deeply shocked when he got the news of Bouncers taking possession of his village and this shock deteriorated his health condition.  He died in fighting for the cause of Goa.  Let us resolve to stand by his wish to support the Terakol villagers against Leading Hotels and Goa government by defeating it in the next election.

May the soul of Domnick the Terakol rest in peace.
