Who is responsible for the current ugly happenings in Goa? Surely,  if not fully then at least partially the living Freedom Fighters of Goa for not doing enough after the ouster of Portuguese from Goa. It was not the Freedom Fighters who uprooted Portuguese from Goa  but the mighty Military power of Bharat though falsely the Freedom Fighters take credit for this.  Before going further let me be frank in paying my highest respect for all those Freedom Fighters who were sincere in their mission for the betterment of Goa and Goans. That Portuguese rule in Goa had to come to an end was a sure fact otherwise I would also join the freedom struggle but after driving out the colonialists I will not sleep content with Pension and Tamrapatra. Instead I would mount more pressure on Indian government either to leave from Goan soil as it did in Bangladesh or to give us greater autonomy on the pattern of Macau or Pondichery at least, as assured by Nehru. But I would never remain silent on the re-colonisation process of Goa by the Bharatis who are now lording over every segment of our Goa.

By upsetting the demographic structure of Goa the Bharatis are deGonising Goa by creating more and more facilities for non-Goans to settle down permanently in Goa exactly the way Israel did in Palestine to dePalestine the homeland of Palestinians by inducting more and more third rate Jews from outside. This was the cunningness on the part of Israeli leaders to commit a silent genocide on original Palestinians in Palestine. India is also following the same method in Goa. The major portion of the Bharatis who are permanently settling down in Goa are from lower and mediocre segment for whom Goa is like a Heaven. They get lot of facilities because they are bribed easily and to extort money and sex is easy from them.  

What was the quality of our Freedom Fighters to think high for Goa and Goans? Some of them in the garb of Freedom Fighters robbed the innocent people and even killed them. In Siolim in late fifties who killed the local Regidor? Again in Siolim Soddiem who captured the house of Casador Manuel Xavier and robbed his both Guns? Who robbed the Banco Ultrmarino during the day time by showing Guns to the Bank employees? Who came to the Salgaocar’s home with Guns to demand money? Who were those who were robbing people near the Hilltop behind Parra Church? And who were the Krimidores who cut the tongue of a “Poder” in Anjuna falsely accusing him to be an informer to the Portugese Police? While accusing many Freedom Fighters of committing cruel acts I salute the genuine ones. They have suffered so much from the hands of Agente Monteiros and sacrificed so much for the sake of Goa but are they happy that their goals are achieved?

Some of them are feeling sorry to see the Goa they dreamt is not realized. They openly show their regret but why not act to put pressure on the government to bring changes in Goa of their choice? One of them was cursing present Goa and Goan rulers but none of them is coming forward to conduct at least a peaceful Dharna in Panjim to draw the attention of the concerned authorities to their grievances? I know they are not young now, I also know they are ageing but they can organize their movement peacefully. If nothing works then they must surrender their Tammrapatras and even Pensions because their goals are not achieved and as such it is wrong to receive the Awards. Those who are regretting now to involve in freedom movement for Goa are not even ashamed to disclose their regret. They should have committed suicide, at least this will prove their sincerity.

Many of the Goans especially the Non-Christians got themselves involved in Goa’s freedom movement to create Hindu Raj in Goa, most of them are having their roots in neighbouring Marathi land for this reason they supported merger of Goa with Maharastra.  They are anti-Christians having an impression that Goan Christians are Pro-Portuguez. But they failed to  realize that the Goan Christians who participated in Goa’s freedom movement were  genuine freedom fighters with genuine secular credentials. The first Goans who revolted against Portuguese rule in Goa  were Pintos from Candolim headed by the Catholic Priests, including another Candoikar Abade Faria, all coming from the same Vaddo Pintos in Candolim.  When they failed in their mission they were caught and tortured and hanged.  Which other Non-Christian freedom fighter faced such a harsh punishment? Goan Christians  are not Pro-Portuguuez but those who were controlling Trade and Commerce  during the Portuguuese time in Goa some of them even supplying Sex to Portuguese Pakles are Pro-Portugues.  The contribution of Goan Christians in fighting against Portuguuese rule in Goa is second to none.  Dr. Francisco Luis Gomes even went to Portugal and raised his voice in favour of freedom for Goa.

If it was not for Salazar, Goa would have been in depended long ago, the enemy of Goa was Salazar and not the current Portuguese government.  Many of the members of current Portuguuese government were the victims of Salazar’s ferocity.  They also suffered from Salazar’s regime.  Showing hatred for them is not correct; they are democratically elected in the democratically political system of Portugal.  They maintain good friendly relationship between Portugal and Goa and as such the “ROSTAD” type of Goan freedom fighters should not bark against them.  These ROSTAD must know first that it is not Portugal that needs Goa and Goans but it is Goans who need Portugal. The Goans having Portuguese Passports are not the security threat for Goa and India but the real security threat  for Goa and India are those Goans who are corrupting  the entire Goan system.   The real threat for Goa are the ROSTAD Goan politicians who are looting Goa.  These corrupt Goans must be thrown out from Goa by shutting down their operations, buildings, offices and residential bungalows and not the Portuguese Consulate in Goa. 

Is there any Freedom Fighter who can campaign against those politicians who are looting Goa?  If they have marbles in their Pants then they must raise their voice against all the Goans who are guilty of looting Goan wealth. Shouting against Portuguese Passports and Portuguese Consulate is the job of the cheap persons.  And besides, who gave an authority to these Freedom Fighters to act as spokesmen of Goa?  They must first apologize to Goans for not doing their job properly. They must first destroy the places named after Portuguese people to woo the tourists from Europe. Most of the Goan Freedom Fighters are cowards, some of them had a very bad reputation because in the name of Freedom Fighters they harmed innocent Goans, robbed innocent Goans and killed innocent Goans  If they don’t stop their Tamasha of showing their hatred for everything Portuguese then people will stone them.

TRIBUTE TO LATE MUHAMMED ALI.

Krink – Krink – Krink, rang the telephone of Muhammed Ali.  He picked up the receiver and when he acknowledged the voice of Prof. Betrand Russel calling from UK, Ali was highly elated because Prof. Russel was name and fame then.  Prof. Russel then told Ali the following:

“Your efforts in opposing American involvement in Vietnam war is laudable.  In the history of humanity there was not a single war more barbaric than this war.  When a person  of your stature talks, world listens.  American public has listened to your  voice  of opposing this war and they will support you.  Please carry forward your fight and I support you” (THE GREATEST).

Finally with the noise Ali made against this war, USA was forced to withdraw from Vietnam.  However,  while opposing USA, poor Ali was made to suffer, even stripping of his title.

 

Earlier Prof. Betrand Russel and his group of intellectuals from all around the globe conducted Nuremburg type of trial of  American involvement in Vietnam War and came to the conclusion that this war was the most barbaric.

About 33 years back when Soviet Russia occupied Afghanistan, Ali was in Bombay at Brabourne Stadium attending a reception where he was also entertaining the audience.  Suddenly an emissary comes there from US President Carter asking Ali to fly back to USA because Carter has appointed him to be his emissary in the Muslim World to explain to the Muslim leaders the necessity of uprooting Russia from Afghanistan.  Carter selected Ali for this job to cash on the influence of Ali on Muslim World.

Fr. William Mendonca was my Headmaster  at St. Joseph’s High School, Arpora. He was a great  lover of Boxing. About 70 years back when the then great Boxer Joe Luis visited Bombay, Fr. William went for his reception, met him and shook hand with him.

Similarly, when Muhammed Ali came to Bombay about 33 years ago, Fr. William again went to meet him when Ali was attending the reception. When Ali saw Fr. William rushing to meet him along with others, Ali shouted at the top of his voice saying “Hey, please make way for the priest to come to me, see even priests are mad after me”. Then Ali hugged Fr. William and laughed heartily to the delight of everyone. Then Fr. William shook hand with Ali and found Ali’s hand like a Rock much harder than that of Joe Luis.

According to my information, the first Goan to encounter Ali was the once ace Goan footballer Franco Fortunato  who represented India at Rome Olympics where Ali won his Gold Medal.  In one evening in the Olympics Village, while Franco was strolling, he crossed Ali who seeing Franco alone, called him out saying, “hey guy, what are you doing here alone, come join me for the dance party”.   

Like Ali no other Boxer displayed swift footedness, this he could do only because he was a very good Ballet dancer. “Rope – a - dope” was his best technique to wear and tire his opponent and this technique helped him to win many bouts.

His other advantage was his genius manager Angelo Dundee who was a master tactician. Once during one fight Ali was totally exhausted and about to lose the fight. At that moment Dundee noticed the Lace of Ali’s Glove is become lose. Immediately he brought it to the notice of the Referee and stopped the fight till some more time was given for Ali to tie that Lace. This helped Ali to regain his composure to win that fight.

The most memorable fight of Ali was this: It was the last round during the “Manila the Thrilla” fight between Ali and Joe Frazier, both were totally exhausted but Frazier was more.  His manager noticed this and asked Frazier “can you see?”  When the answer was “No”, Ali was so surprised that he collapsed to the ground with happiness.  This was the greatest fight of Ali. Will we ever again get another Ali?  I doubt because such men comes to this planet only once in centuries. He raised Boxing to the pedestal.

He was the victim of Apartheid in America inspite of the fact that he won the Gold Medal for America in Rome Olympics. This treatment annoyed him so much that out of frustration he finally threw his Gold Medal into the River Ohio when he was refused entry into the “whites only” Restaurant.

According to one source he was very much annoyed at the propagators of Christianity in USA for not doing anything to eradicate Apartheid there and as a mark of protest he surrendered his Christianity in favour of Islam which annoyed American white supremacy. During the period of his suspension and stripping of his title, he suffered mental and financial stress, so much so when he had no money he had to sell even his Radio Set for 10 $.

Was Muhammad Ali the greatest of all? Though he defeated all the greats of his time, namely George Foreman, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier and others yet I still feel he would not defeat Joe Luis and Rocky Marciano if they had to be in the same era. Muhammad Ali became so popular because he took so popular decisions so boldly during his time as none did in the past.

He was very boastful especially of his talent and beautiful face which remained without a single scar inspite of receiving millions of blows on his face. His success in and out of the Ring was his hard work and conviction in his principle that victory will be his. And surely the VICTORY WAS HIS.

WAKE - UP CALL TO CONGRESS PARTY IN GOA.

Only a few more months are left for the next Election but none of the parties seems to be serious.  That BJP is going to be in a mess is already disclosed  thru the salvo fired by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo.  If BJP challenges him, I am sure he is in a position even to contest the election as an independent candidate and get elected because his work speaks volumes of his efficiency in his constituency.  However,  the greatest advantage of his is his simplicity, humility, helpfulness and above all non-vindictiveness that won him laurels in his constituency. Though he is in the wrong party yet people opposing his party are supporting him more than the supporters of BJP. 

In the last election Congress  suffered only because of the prideful and revengeful nature of its candidates.  Most of the defeated candidates of Congress were rootless,  hence they exhibited  artificial pride; they wanted to be Maharajas of Goa for this reason people gave their verdicts against them.

According to my observation, none of the national or regional parties is capable to make their presence felt to form the next government by defeating BJP.  BJP’s votes will remain intact but the votes of anti-BJP parties will get splitted giving advantage to BJP.

In order to avoid this split in the votes of anti-BJP forces, as I said earlier, all the anti BJP parties, national and regional must sit together and decide a seat sharing method.  Congress though I have my reservation on its efficiency yet I still feel it must give a lead for this method because it has its strong base in Goa while others not.  They are all novices.  They will just disappear like ether.
