STOP MIGRANTS' DOUBLE VOTING FACILITY.

Very shortly we will have Panchayat election in Goa.  Due to unwanted excess influx of non-Goans into Goa mainly the migrants and other low grade Ghantis who are selling their votes to any candidate paying them the good amount, there is a big problem for Goa and Goans. It is this class of Bharati people who are a botheration in Goa.  They have no interest in Goa and Goans, their interest is only in getting maximum benefit of Goa and Goans. 

If tomorrow anything goes wrong for them, they will run away from Goa to their States.  In this way so many of them fled to their States after committing unwanted crimes and robberies. Once they go we don’t have records of their residential addresses back at their homes to trace them.  Our local Panchyats have not offered any solution to trace and track them.  They give them all the documents to reside in our localities to get the benefits of their votes.

While they are given voting rights in Goa, was it found out that their names in their localities back at homes in their States are deleted?  I understand many of them are dual voters, they vote in Goa as well as in their home States. Whose job is this to keep a check on this fraud committed by some migrants? 

I understand in my village in Candolim at Araddy Vaddo which is made famous by the local Panchayat by facilitating them to get all the facilities to have this as permanent place for them to live, there are migrants voting at two places. In the forthcoming Panchayat election they will vote in Goa and when the similar election comes in their States from where they came, they will go back there and vote.

 

This has to be stopped. But by whom?  I don’t think because concerned authority and concerned persons are not interested in putting an end to this electoral fraud because they themselves are the beneficiaries of the votes who vote twice. The local politicians will surely utilize them in the coming election to buy their votes as they did in the last Assembly election where according to one source bales of currency Notes paid to the migrant voters to get their votes.

In view of this, those who are capable to fight against this menace must come forward and thru legal means halt this double voting system.

AVOID ELECTING DISGRACEFUL CANDIDATES.

In another few days the Panchayat election will take place in Goa. In many villages especially in the coastal areas, there is too much of rush to fill the forms by the local candidates as well as by the “Baddeache” candidates who are contesting in the Wards not belonging to them. It is very dangerous to re-elect the current members because they are already equipped with the knowledge of using the Panchayat machiney for looting and making money for them.  In our locality we have such candidates who are a nuisance in the Panchayat and because of this nature of them people are reluctant to go to the Panchayat. By their rude behavior they have created a fear complex into the hearts of the people They forget to know why they are elected by the voters, they are elected to do good for the people but instead they are using their power and time for harassing the locals.  They love harassing the people because they are third class coming from worst class of family background.

The important question for the election contestants is this: Once they are elected, whom they will elect the Sarpanch?  This is the main question which the candidates must tell in advance. Later on to decide, we should not wait.  Once they get elected, they will be acting like Dictators.  Those who are not forthcoming with their answer, they should not be voted.

The biggest robbers of many of our Panchayats in Goa are the elected members of the Panchayat headed by the Sarpanches. They are the first persons in the Queue standing there in the Mamlatdar Offices to fill their forms so that they don’t miss the opportunity to contest the election. They will see to it that they are elected even by doling their wives and daughters because they are in readiness to rob Panchayat more and thru Panchayat they will rob the locals. 

Up to now I have not come across a single Panch Member who can with pride say that he has not made use of his position to make money for him.  I see Bungalows, Restaurants and Hotels built by the members of the Panchayat but I don’t see any evidence proving that they have not extorted as bribe the money from the public.  We have in our locality a few of them whose motto by contesting the local election is only to fill their pockets by taking bribe from the people. Otherwise you cannot acquire huge asset without robbing.

TIATRO "POLICE OFFICER" BY SAMMY TAVARES.

On Sunday, 21^st of this  month, at Kala Academy Hall, Panjim, starting exactly at 3.30 PM, I saw the new Tiatro “POLICE OFFICER” written and directed by the Deputy Suptd. of Goa Police, Sammy Tavares.

It was a full house show that got irritated in the beginning of the second session due to lack of supply of Air-conditioning in the hall.  This is the second such incident that the Hall management is committing by  ignoring its responsibility of not shouldering its task towards providing proper Air conditioning in the hall.  It looks Kala Academy is doing a favour, KA must know that  it is charging an exorbitant rent for the supply of hall with all the required amenities.  Its management must stop acting childish and irresponsible.

The story of the Tiatro is something different from what normally we see in most of the Tiatros in the sense that it revolves around the mischief committed by one Police Officer (Franky) against the other (Tari) to quench his (Franky’s)  thirst of revenge against his superior (Tari). Franky no doubt as usual did his part well but his expressions with raised voice and without proper clarity should be amended.   It is good that the Police Officer himself discloses the mischief committed by the Policemen in Uniform and since it is coming from the pen of the top cop, people will surely appreciate it.  Since this is just the beginning and this Tiatro is going to be staged all over Goa and even abroad, I decline to further elaborate the story for people to see for themselves.

It is worth admiring that the other side, that is the better side of the Policeman is also indicated thereby creating a balance between the two. Policemen since Portuguese time are considered as third class creatures because many of them are committing third class acts.  During the Portuguese time, most of the Goans looked down on this job and profession because in this profession you are encouraged to behave like a third class especially when you are of low category. Normally Policeman are known to be harsh, cruel, filthy, sexually perverted, bribe extortionists and having afflicted with all the vices.  For this reason decent families used to discourage  their sons from joining the Police Force

The best role in the play was played by Tari as top Police Officer in which he depicted himself as the real Police Officer, his posture, talk, walk and acting was perfect.   The young lady (Jenice) who acted with him as his wife has done her role well. A small but excellent role played by Lawry Travasso in the Police Station where he was tortured for committing the robbery deserves highest compliments, tears were seen rolling down the cheeks of many in the hall, including mine. The role of the Drug pedler played by Justiano was extremely appropriate. Thru this role, he indicted to everyone that he is capable to do any such roles.

The comedy part was handled by Comedians Sally and Joana, though it was enacted well yet it lacked the required punch, however Comedian Joana did her level best to raise its standard.

However, the the double meaning words used by Joana as “Burak” for Urrak was not palatable.  The director should check such incidents because it gives vulgar image of the good show and good director.  This type of vulgarity suits the third grade directors for the third grade audience but Tavares is not a third grade nor the audience. I never saw double meaning statements in the Tiatros by the great directors like Alexinho de Candolim, J.P. Souzalin, Remie Colaco, Prem Kumar, Saib Rocha, Nelson Afonso and many more.  They were decent and upright directors having upright and decent upbringing at home.

In the Side Show songs, the first name comes to my mind was the beautiful solo rendered by the beautiful singer Sonia Sirsat with her beautiful voice on her personal life.  This I the first time I saw her acting in Tiatro and from the welcome she received from the audience it looks she is already a “Lokpria” od the audience.  Her second song a duet with melodious singer Anciedo Lawrence was yet another excellent item of the Side Show.

Anciedo’s opening solo was also good so also his trio with Lawry Travasso and Marcus Vaz. The writer director of this Tiatro with his majestic personality rendered his solo well. So also Benny de Aldona with his sweet attractive voice. Sammy
