NEW TIATRO "KONNANK PATIEUPACHEM ?" BY FRANCIS DE TUEM.

Yesterday, 9^th of this month, at Panjim Kala Academy Hall, starting at 3.00 PM, I saw the new Tiatro     ” KONNANK PATIEUPACHEM?” written and directed by Francis de Tuem and was attended by the Hall packed audience.  However, those who missed the chance to see this Tuatro yesterday, they can see it on 11^th of this month at the same venue.

Today in the Tatro field, Francis de Tuem is the name and fame just as the late M. Boyer was during his hey days. The greatness of M. Boyer was concentrated on his script and direction which was flawless and matching with his dignity and also decency. M. Boyer would not introduce any vulgarity in his Tiatros nor words and statements having double meaning.  Neither he would induct in his  Tiatros cheap and third class artistes in his Tiatros. He was very choosy in his selection. Precisely because of this and his dignified script his Tiatros were attended by the innumerable dignified people and not vulgar cheap.

Why M. Boyer only, take for example J.P. Souzalin, C. Alvares, Alexinho de Candolim, Dr. Simon C. Fernandes and many other top grade scripts writers and directors they always maintained their dignified position otherwise they would not create a niche for them in the top grade. They allowed the money to escape from their pockets but they never allowed their dignity and honour to escape from their dignified life. They would not keep closer even to their shadow those who take pleasure in displaying vulgarity and indecency from the Stage.

After its birth, during the first 25 years Tiatro remained in the hands of dignified artistes but during the second 25 years Tiatros went (to quote Pai Titrist Joao Agostinho Fernandes) into the hands of many of the ROSTAD Tiatrists who introduced besides other low caliber scripts and songs, vulgarity and double meanings words and statements. These were the Tiatrists who had no proper parental discipline at home because they had no proper parents to control their discipline. It is precisely because of this degradation of Tiatro to such a low level that the high caliber audience refrained from patronizing Tiatros.

This lowliness and degradation of Tiatro was seen more in the Comedy part where to impress upon the audience to make them laugh, the third class comedians started using vulgar and double meaning words which would satisfy the thirst of the third class audience.  Comedians like Jacinto Vaz would make the audience laugh by just standing on the Stage without even uttering a word nor moving an inch forward.

But todays comedians if not all then at least most of them especially the youngsters would use all foul words and double meaning words full of vulgarity as I have seen yesterday in Francis de Tuem’s Tiatro. The main play and the story of the Tiatro  was well written and very well enacted by all the artistes specially by Roshan, Marcus Vaz and his other two colleagues in the Azilo so also by the one who played the role of his son coming from USA.

However, the excellent role in the whole Tiatro was played by the excellent female artiste and one of the “lokhpriya” of Konkani Stage Aplon who played the role of a Nun. Her presentation and appropriate dress code and expression brought her role to the pedestal.

In the Side Show songs, Roshan’s Solo a sort of romantic one, based on the tune of Bollywood song was as beautiful and attractive as her beautiful attractive appearance.  Her duet which she rendered with Peter where they decry the habit of naming the Bars and Tavernas after the holy Saints was worth admiring.   Francis de Tuem’s  political solos were of high grade. The quarter of Marcus Vaz, Xavier Gomes, Lawry Travasso and Jr. Francis de Tuem was rendered. Though Jr. Tuem attracted lot of goodwill for this song yet it was well composed and meant to be rendered seriously as per the serious contents of the song.

My admiration goes to both the artistes who  imitated Churchill Alemao, Ravi Naik, Vijay Sardesai and Daulicar.  They have indicated their high calibre prowess in imitating the indicated politicians. The way they dressed, the way they talked and walked and the way they imitated the mentioned politicians, they they did a great job. Bravo to them.

DOLING - LOOTING - SELLING OF COMMUNIDADE LAND.

It is not only the land of the Communidade is on sale and dole but as per the latest trend, it looks  the entire Communidade system is on sale. According to the recent Press Release issued by Michael Lobo, Government has acquired about 15 lakhs square metres of Comunidade land from Candolim and Calangute. Without any opposition did the share holders of Candolim and Calangute Communidades surrender to this land acquisition by Michael Lobo and the Government?  By surrendering this land to the Government the shareholders of both the Communidades gave an impression that they are also in partnership with Michael Lobo/Government interested in introducing the PDA and ODP.  By the way, were there resolutions passed in both the Communidades to sell or to dole so much of land to the Government?  Some of the share holders in both the Communidades are very close to Michael Lobo and to please him are they ready to finish the Communidade land? 

It seems Michael Lobo is interested in developing Candolim and Calangute but why not other villages also like Parra, Nagoa and Arpora?  By concentrating on Candolim and Calangute is Michael Lobo giving step motherly treatment to the other villages in his Constituency?  Or Michael Lobo finds Candolim and Calangute Communidades as Gold Mines after stopping mining in Goa?  What are the projects Michael Lobo wants to develop in Candolim and Calangute?  Did he declare openly these projects to the citizens of these two villages?  Is Michael Lobo the owner of both these villages just because he is an MLA of this area? Will his MLAship not come to an end? His MLAship is purely a temporary phase and this must not be forgotten by all who are closely associated with him. Can both the Attorneys of Candolim and Calangute throw some more light on this? 

  

As it is, I find it very disgusting to see how systematically in an organized manner In Nagoa and Parra the Communidade land has been usurped by the interested persons and built Shopping Centres and Housing Complexes which are lent to the outsiders.  This is a daylight robbery of Communidade land  by those who are close to the government machinery.  In this way we will get the influx of non-Goans who will one day overpower us. And  to facilitate them to gain upper hand in Goa our MLA has already indicated his decision. It is time now for those who were associating with him to get him elected in the last election to express their views on this. We cannot rely to protect Goa and Goans on those who are flirting with non-genuine Goans whose interest on Goa is only commercial.

MEETING "GOYENKAR AGAINST PDA" HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL.

Rarely in the recent past such a mammoth crowd attended at Azad Maidan  showing their disgust and opposition to PDA and ODP in Goa introduced by the tin pot MLA’s who are become nuisance for Goa.  These MLA’s are so dead that they cannot listen to the voice of the people who got them elected with the understanding that they will act and do what their voters want them to do. In my constituency our MLA who is creating headlines now in Goa is fighting for the introduction of PDA and ODP looks to be blind and deaf to the wishes of the people who elected him to MLAship.  How he can push this topic on the voters and who authorized him to be an slave of this topic?

Where are all the constituents including my elder brother who were flirting with him during the election campaigning, gone now?  Why are they become so dead now?  Why cannot they speak out loudly and openly and warn their MLAs not to cross their  boundary because constituents of their constituency while voting him back to the Legislative Assembly  never gave him free hand to reject people’s wishes.  One of these MLA’s is responsible  to play dirty game by being a king leader  to induct the present government in Goa when they had no mandate to form the government. They have done a worst robbery by robbing the Congress of its majority.

However, there is no proper system going on in Goa for this reason democracy was killed in Goa when minority vote gainers were given chance to form the ministry.  There is a saying in Konkani which says, “Eka Kapddan Bail Matari Zaina”. The local MLA should be very careful because he lost the love and confidence of the voters from his constituency. He must thank his stars for getting re-elected because his opponent from Congress Party was not the proper match for him.  Besides, money played a major role in the last election, the mother of all Molestations did the distribution of the money.

Coming back to the yesterday’s Meet,  it was fabulously attended by the genuine Goa lover Goans, the artificial Goans who are the settlers in Goa coming from Karnataka were hiding under the Petticoat of their Wives or concubines because these “haddeche” Goans are not interested in Goa and Goans’ future, they want Goa to make money for them by extorting bribe from the people.

Speaker after speaker thundered the Azad Maidan yesterday with their courageous statement without fear; one speaker said “Vijay Sardesai is worst than a Prostitute”;  Michael Lobo was mocked and humiliated by Walter Lobo from Calangute by imitating Lobo with Lamani’s dress. He drew more attention on him from everyone gathered there. According to me the ire of the people was focused on Lobo more than on others. Among the audience some people were talking that “Lobochem Map atam borlem, chodd zalem tachem”, he will not get elected again because he proved to be unreliable.

Dr. Claude Alvares who was attending the meet by sitting among the audience, was spotted by the organisers and requested to say a few words which turned out to be best educative words when he said that “the decision of the Panchayat becomes an official document only when it was approved by the Graham Sabah.  Fr. Britto in his speech indicated his disgust over these politicians, MLA’s and Ministers who are all out to disgrace Goa

Well known Senior Tiatrist Cyriaco Dias indicated his disgust over those who introduce PDA and ODP and further pointing out how Calangute is going to be the loser of its pristine characteristic. He also disclosed his credential of a Freedom Fighter. My admiration goes for the Freedom Fighters no doubt but what type of the Freedom Fighters?  Definitely not the ones who went to sleep immediately after Goa was invaded by the Bharat. If these Freedom Fighters had to indicate their power and love for Goa they would not sleep at home after 19.12.61 by accepting the Pension and Tamrapatra.  The great FF Lambert Mascharenhas has already shown his disgust for the invaders of Goa and regret for being a FF.  Mr. Sinari felt ashamed to be a FF when Goa is going  for the destruction. He regretted for being a FF when Goa of his dream was not formed.  These freedom fighters (only the some including Sinari) had to suffer so much, the barbaric corporal punishment from the Portuguese Agentes and the results of their suffering is worth their sacrifices?  They should have all in unison rejected their pension and surrendered their Tamrapatras with the statement that “they have not suffered from the Portuguese for this disgraceful end”.

But to do this, these Freedom Fighters must have guts.  It is not enough to shout the slogans like “Nehru Zindabad and Salazar Murdabad”. One prominent FF said “Goa and Goans were better under the Portuguese rule”.  I admire him for speaking the truth but I would admire him still more If he had to surrender his pension and Tamraptra  and disowned those so called FF who were robbing Goans by showing their Guns. Some of the biggest “Chors” and criminals during the Portugue rule in Goa were Free Fighters.

The others who spoke there were the great Goan Iron Lady, affectionately called as Mummy, was Victoria Fernandes from St. Cruz who participated almost in all the public meetings and demonstrations organized for the cause of Goa.  Though she could not walk freely, she was brought by her two aides and then she spoke so well making some cry even. Her son Rudolf spoke so well by giving encouragement to all to oppose PDA &  ODP. Besides others, Roshan Mathias, Walter Lobo, Sabena Martins and Peter Gonsalves ALSO spoke.

Thru this meeting a salvo was fired sending a strong message to Michael Lobo, Vijay Sardesai and the Government.
