THE STRONG INFLUENCE OF PORTUGAL & CHRISTIANITY ON GOA & GOANS. PART - I.

It is now over 500 years that the Portuguese landed in Goa followed by the Christianity. When the Portuguese came to Goa they introduced certain discipline and system for the people  inhabiting  on this land because  even though the inhabitants of this land in the pre-Portuguese era possessed certain qualities different from those of the people beyond the  borders of Goa yet the fine tuning of their disciplinary character was conducted by the Portuguese in Goa. By nature Portuguese were kind and mild hearted, they were sincere and straight forward and not like cunning.  Being the Christians from Roman Catholicism, Portuguese religious system introduced the time consuming rites in the Churches and in their prayers, these rites and prayers kept the faithful constantly on their toes and busy, of course many times unnecessarily without any Biblical significance and this fallacy is now exposed by the innumerable Non-Catholic Christian denominations which are mushrooming all over Goa and also in other parts of the World. These denominations headed by their clever and holy pastors are all out to pin point the wrongly delivered Christian doctrine by the Catholics and when they do so much openly and aggressively exposing and yet RC are keeping their silence.

  

For example, according to one Pastor, the Catholic leadership wants to keep the faithful constantly busy as per the wishes of the Colonialists so that these people will think nothing and also will do nothing much except religion even though it is in the wrong way.  See we Catholics are celebrating the Feasts of innumerable Saints whom we adore so much spending so much of our time daily on our knees praying for them that we even forget Jesus Christ by ignoring Him. Is it right to do so?  Who are Saints and who is Jesus Christ?  In fact all these Saints prayed to Jesus Christ only.  When these Saints adored and prayed to Jesus Chriust and even sacrificed their life, they attained the Heavenly bliss and when this is the case is it right on our part to ignore Jesus Christ and embrace the Saints ?  However,  inspite of this, the Portuguese were more humane and being so they were not discriminators as their counterparts the British in other parts of India were. 

One of the reasons why the Goans are accepted as good and decent people while those from  other parts of Bahrat as cunning, rough, rude, uncultured and corrupt because these attributes they learnt more from the British which finally the British bequeathed to the Indians who are known even in the outside world as cunning and crook people if not the major portion then at least very many as compared to Goans most of whom are very good in character and discipline. Many times many Kuwaitis while I was in Kuwait asked me why the Goans are totally different from those Indians from other parts of India?  They found Goans of much superior quality. We as far as our decency, discipline and character are concerned have reached  to such a top height but suddenly and unexpectedly there applied a brake to our progress and development by Nehru’s Bharat on 19th December  in 1961 when our Goa was  suddenly and forcibly acquired with the mighty military force of about 20 thousand troop by Bharat without our consent and that too in the name of  liberation and turned Goa into like any other corrupt place in Bharat.   What character and discipline people saw in Goans after the  forcible acquisition of Goa on 19.12.61 was just a shadow of the rich pristine genuine Goans’ character and discipline.

A NEW FRONT "GOENCHO EKVOTT" IS FORMED.

Finally the organization “GOENCHO EKVOTT “ is formed as declared  in Herald of 21.07.20.  This  is imperative at this hour since when facing the issues of high calamity Goans join together under one common Umbrella.

Being good fighters for justice for them,  Goans perform well  when joined together  and precisely because of this quality Goans won the the Opinion Poll, Konkani Language,  Statehood and many other battles.  This attitude  is deeply ingrained in their blood and even when they are abroad they do the same by even risking their jobs.  For example, when Goans from the Gulf especially from Kuwait realised that they must come to the rescue of their counterparts in Goa fighting for the cause of Konkani language, Kuwait Goans discarding all their differences and parochial enmities, joined together in mid 1979 and formed their own  group that received allegiance from all others involved  Konkni activities and collected and sent lakhs of rupees to Goa to fight the Konkani cause.

Now, “Goencho Ekvott” is assured of their full support by the innumerable Goan associations to fight anti-Goan projects by the Government,  because of their ill effects on Goa. It is imperative to fight the enemies of Goa who are destroying Goa in the name of development which is a pure Hitlerian lie. I too lend my strong support GE on behalf of all my like minded Kuwait returnees especially all my warrier friends who struggled so much for the cause of Goa and Goans. 

I have noticed that we Goans are first class in initiating something but last class in maintaining it. We easily go into disarray because of our leaders’  selfishness for gaining cheap prominence and the greed for illicit money.  It is our leaders who let us down because it is our tragedy that we don’t get good and reliable leaders. See our politicians how they disgrace Goa thru defection,  see the lakhs of rupees we sent for Konkani promotion and also  for the Costruction of One Cancer Hospital etc. There is no accountability of such a huge amount we sent from Kuwait.  My request all involvd in GE to be upright.

BEST POLITICAL SONG OF OLGA VAZ.

There is a saying in Konkani: “Baint poddlem khuim Koblem and voir sorlem khuim Soblem”, this is exactly what has happened in Goa regarding the stopping of Tiatro and in the bargain development of UTube Channel where we get best of songs rendered by

the best of artistes on different subjects. Everybody in the anti-Tiatro circle especially those involved in the running of the government machinery said that in this situation the mouth of the Tiatrists will be closed to  criticize the government for its wrongs and anti-people decisions and anti-Goan policies.  Hence, the government and its machinery took a great pleasure in this stopping of Tiatros but on the other side the UTube facility opened where every top artiste has started his/her Channel where these artistes are rendering best of songs which give the singer much wider coverage for their songs than what they were getting in the Tiatros. Hence, my saying “Baint poddlem khuim Koblem and voir sorlem khuim Sonlem”.  The meaning of this saying is elaborated here thus: “Because of his “Koblem” thru which he was catching Crabs suddenly got released from his hand and fell into the Well and when he jumped into the Well to remove that Koblem he got hold of one lady by name Soblem which is in reality Sobin that was in the local parlance called Soblem.  Hence, what has happened is proved to be better.

By taking advantage of this situation, the beauty queen of Konkani Stage who is called the Queen of political songs, the lovely looking Olga Vaz with her piercing lyrics and attractive voice and absolutely killing words like that of the first known highly  great political singer Kid Boxer, released her highly political song “UZO”  which is a must see and must listen because it looks like actual fire in which she burns  Visvajeet Rane dubbing him as “Baizon” etc. and tearing him into pieces by saying even “samelessly he cried in front of Parricar like a Baizon”.  She showers fabulous praises on Manoj Parab of Goan Revelutionary and his group.  If possible Manoj  must open offices or centres in every village or constituency so that everyone will have easy access to this organisation.
