Music House production firm based in Mapusa in the North is churning out audio and video albums with regularity. Their recent additions are VCD music album ‘Mogan Tujea lasotam’ of Kuwait based Rosary Ferns and ‘Mevonk Na’ a VCD film of Menino de Benaulim. Both these new videos have received good response from the Konkani music lovers.‘Mogan Tuje Lasotam’: This video music album of veteran stage artist Rosary Ferns based in Kuwait is shot in picturesque locations in and around Goa, with the outdoor and indoor filming by Cameraman Joywin Fernandes. The video album has ten nice tracks sung by popular singers of the Konkani stage with meaningful lyrics composed by Rosary Ferns himself.
The video begins with the title song ‘Mogan tujea lasotam’ a Mando rendered in a sensual voice by talented Veeam Bond Braganza with appropriate music score by Maestro Josinho. It really makes a pleasant listening as well as a fine beginning to the album. Rosary Ferns comes with a solo ‘Matharponn’ a well composed song highlighting the old age stage of life and the consequences thereof. Peter-Roshan both pair together to render ‘Soitann’ a lovely duet on a fast pop beat. The duet has a good morale. ‘Put’ is yet another nice solo with good and touching lyrics sung by versatile senior stage singer Luciano Dias.
Rosary Ferns returns back to once again render a meaningful solo ‘Gorv’. In this solo the singer talks about pride and the negative consequences of the same. To drive home his point and emphasize on the message of his song he has shown clips of tyrants such as Adolph Hitler and Saddam Hussien. ‘Ostori’ a solo by Bab Agnel is passable, followed by a nice duet ‘Sangatan Bhonv-ia’ well rendered by the versatile pair of Antonette de Calangute and Bonny Pereira. Joywin has captured the indoor shots well and the pair does justice to the lyrics with some natural acting.
‘Tumi Fotouta’ a solo by Mini Mario is well rendered with good music bnack up and picturised at appealing outdoor locations. The last tracks on the album is ‘Dinar’ and this video is another excellent solo sung by Rosary Ferns sounding a sensible warning for those aspiring to take up jobs in the gulf.
Overall the album is a nice and slick presentation with nice solos and good duets. The songs are meaningful and bear a morale. A good pick for Rs. 150/-, go for it.
Mevonk Na: This VCD film has a good star cast of dashing Ulhas Tari, stylish Antush pretty Jessica, charming Ana, versatile Fatima supported in the hilarious section by comedians Joana, Agostinho, Ambe, Fernando and others. The story is revolving around two households and their children Walter & Jessica with Brian another college going youth also a part of the triangle, with the story overlapping on a love triangle. Then there is a friend Norma who tries to play games with ulterior motives and greed for money. An unwed mother mourning the death of her child at birth, a nurse playing good Samaritan. A young man aspiring to join the Police department and wearing the uniform of a Police Officer, and later fulfilling his dreams. All this and more twist to the tale with a good amount of suspense, and conspiracies is what ‘Mevonk Na’ is all about. The script of the film is fairly good with a lot of English dialogues thrown in with natural flair as and when the situation demands. However the ending seems to be a little too abrupt.
The comedy sequences with Agostinho, Fernando, Ambe and Joana are well scripted and enacted with some natural acting. The VCD film is priced at Rs. 150/- and is available at all leading music stores.

Khille & Gelem Soddun – Manfa’s latest albums
The latest offerings from the House of Manfa Music is Prince of Centuries Pascoal Rodrigues’ audio album ‘Khille’ and Lawry Travasso’s Video album ‘Gelem Soddun’.
Khille: This audio album has 14 delectable tracks rendered by several singers of the Konkani stage besides four rib-tickling jokes intermittently presented by comedians Agostinho, Janet, and Selvy. The first track ‘Utrachi Mudi’ rendered by Osvi Viegas with a smooth voice makes a good beginning. ‘Ugddas Kortam’ by Lawry Travasso is a beautiful tribute paid through song to living Konkani stage legend M. Boyer. The title song ‘Khille’ on the album is rendered by Pascoal himself and the lyrics are really thought provoking and touching. Versatile singer Felcy renders ‘Bhogsonnem’ and speaks about the issue of forgiveness, while Jaju Fernandes lends his voice for ‘Bible’ an educative track emphasizing the importance of the Holy bible. Selvy and Janet both combine with a comedy duet ‘Pandu Lampiao’.
‘Sant Bokht’ a solo track rendered by Angreat Rodrigues highlighting the devotion of various saints in Goa, is an average track on the album. Pascoal Rodrigues and Felcy both together combine for a romantic duet ‘Mogan Zalam Pisso’. ‘Udok’ by Jaju Fernandes and ‘Dudacho Glass’ by Pascoal Rodrigues are the last two tracks on the audio album. The last track by Pascoal Rodrigues is once again has some nice lyrics and is backed by good music.
The audio album has music by Chris Correia with Filip de Sanvordem (Saxaphone), Anthony de Velim (Trumpet) Peterson Gomes (Bass), Norman Cardozo (Keyboard), Aurville Rodrigues (Drums) and Chris on rhytm guitar. The lyrics for all the tracks has been composed by Pascoal Rodrigues. The album is priced at Rs. 125/- and is available all over the State with the regular outlets.
Gelem Soddun: This is video album of Lawry Travasso comprising of 8 beautiful songs picturised at several outdoor locations in and around Goa. The album begins with the title song ‘Gelem Soddun’ by Lawry followed by another solo track ‘Bhurgeank rostear soddinaka’ by the same singer. The song has some touching lyrics highlighting the fate of orphan children. Stylish singer Victor makes his presence strongly felt on the video album with an electrifying romantic track ‘Sopon’. Lawry’s next ‘Maria Magnnem Kortana’ is a solo followed by melodious singer Osvi Viegas’ ‘Duvens’ (lyrics Osvi Viegas) sounding a caution on the deadly scourge of HIV/AIDS. This is a nice track on the video album and Osvi does full justice to the touching lyrics together with some nice clips by Joywin.
‘Prema’ by Lawry is set to foot tapping music, followed by Goenkaram a solo on the folk beat by Lawry speaking about various aspects of Goan lifestyles and the last track on the album is a duet ‘Poi Poi’ by Lawry and Delaila. The duet is well picturised with pleasant music backup. The video album is worth the cover price of Rs. 150/- and makes a pleasant viewing .
