Thirty Two National Foot-ball Teams will vie for the supremacy of the coveted Golden Trophy known as FIFA World Cup played in South Africa – first time in African continent – during the whole one month starting from tomorrow 11th June 2010. Each National Team will be represented on the playing field by its Eleven National foot-ballers and they will do their best to come out victorious. Is the victory of any participating teams in the hands of Eleven Players only, however best and greatest foot-ballers they may be?
According to my assessment and also of many soccer experts, the greatest Brazilian World Cup squad of all time was that of 1982 and not the one that represented Brazil in 1970 with Pele as one its members. The great Brazilian soccer Maestro and Foot-ball artiste Tele Santana was the genius who coached all the genii of that 1982 Brazilian squad. They played best of soccer that one can play on this planet and one can enjoy, gaining victory after victory till they were knocked out in the crucial stage by the Paulo Rossi inspired Italy in a very thrilling encounter with the score 2-3, all the three goals of Italy coming from Paulo Rossi’s hat-trick while Brazilians scored thru their skipper Dr. Socrates and Falcao.
After their loss to Italy, Tele Santana was on tears, so too me and millions of Brazialian fans all around the globe including Italians who loved Brazilian entertaining and Samba type of soccer. Then when asked for his comment, Tele Santana spoke like a real philosopher saying ‘Brazil had everything to win this match and the Trophy except LUCK which denied Brazil its otherwise due victory'.
So, from the above philosophical statement of Tele Santana, one must admit that this year's World Cup will be won by the team having not only best players but also the team having best of LUCK. Which will be that best team having best of LUCK? Time alone will tell. Let us count the time from tomorrow.

RAJAN NARAYAN OFFENDED CHRISTIANS>
Rajan Narayan’s Apathy Towards Our Dead www.goanobserver.com
Looking at the cover story of Goan Observer of June 6, 2010, I was very much appalled to see a coloured photograph of Mickky happily dancing on Nadia Torrado’s grave, what sort of humour was Rajan Narayan aiming at, if at all it was humour. It was indeed distasteful and pathetic. Reporting on the ills or the colourful lifestyle of Mickky is one thing but making a mockery of our dead is most certainly uncalled for. Rajan Narayan’s apathy towards our dead is not acceptable. If Rajan Narayan want’s to get at Mickky there are lots of other ways than disrespecting our dead
Rajan Narayan has been in Goa for ages and should have known better than to hurt the feelings of the largest minority in Goa, If Rajan Narayan wants to derive some humour from the dead then he should do it of his own dead ones, if he does not respect his dead it his prerogative but trying to derive humour from our dead is not what we like.
We Christians consider our resting place sacred, and so our feeling should be respected. What ever her live was, she lived it, but in death, it is essential that we show some respect. Who are we to judge others when we ourselves are stuck in the muck one way or the other. Rajan Narayan should refrain from such callous humour. Would Rajan Narayan do the same to the other minority community ?

PIG'S QUALITY OF OUR GOAN POLITICIANS.
What Is The Quality Of Our Goan Political Leaders Today ?In 1979 ISRO’s pet project SLV-3 program was in full swing and India was all set to put “Rohini” in to orbit, just four minutes before the countdown started, the computer after going through the check list, puts the launch on hold, displaying that some control components were not in order, but the project director on the assurances of his team of experts, that they had done their calculations right and that there was enough reserve fuel, having faith in his team, he bypassed the computer, switched to manual mode and launched the rocket.
The result, in just a few seconds the rocket plunged in to the Bay of Bengal. Everyone’s hard work went down in a splash. The Chairman of the ISRO came forward at the press conference and took the responsibility on himself but promised success within a year, and so it happened in July 1980, but after the successful launch this time, the same Chairman of ISRO comes forward and hands over the proceedings of the press conference to the director of the project who had launched the ill-fated mission a year earlier, saying it’s your success. The Chairman was none other than the renowned Prof. Dhawan and the Project director was none other than our former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, later the former President himself said “I learned a very important lesson that day. When failure occurred, the leader of the organization owned the responsibility for the failure but when success came, he gave it to his team. That was the best management lesson I have learned.”Can we expect that from our Goan political leaders ?
I know, it’s true that, there is an inconceivable gulf between the way our renowned scientists think and how preposterously our Goan politicians think but even then, isn’t it something that our Goan leaders should look at ? Because, on the contrary our politicians just like to hog the limelight, even if it does not concern them, but then are very good, in turning around and putting the blame on others, when they themselves have been solely responsible for it, just how many times have we seen this happen ? Virtues and ethics are nowhere to be found in the Goan political sphere, the elected members have been alleged to be involved, in scams: Bogus ticket, high security number plates, IFFI, public distribution system, Communidade land sale and even molestation, terrorism, drugs, abetting statuary rape, bigamy, inciting communal disharmony by distributing unwarranted CD’s, attacking police stations, false affidavits, illegal mining, abetting hill cutting, land filling and you name it and they are there.
Just last week one of them has been accused of involvement in the death of a 29 year old married women who is said to have committed suicide. Phew !!! what superlative and bravura credentials our politicians have, I am sure Goan immortals like Abbe Faria must be turning green and purple at the same time in their graves thinking about the future of Goa. What are our Goan politicians upto ? The motives behind their plunge into politics has manifested itself, the sanctity of politics has been hijacked by fraudulent corrupt politicians distorting it’s ethic values and principles, turning it in to a cesspool of corruption, depravity and degeneracy. Is this what we elected them for ?
Looking at the number of times, these same imbeciles have been elected, it looks like Goa is suffering from an acute drought of honest and ethical persons to vote for, and these scoundrels are the only options available. As time and again we have been re-electing these very same monsters, do we Goans display even a modicum of intelligence that allows us to analyse the situation analytically or dispassionately before we elect these scoundrels ?
Just two years to go for the next assembly elections, can we respond tangibly to the pathetic outlook and attitude of our politicians ? We have already been told to stick up our votes, our ladies have been advised not to contest elections, Digu thinks politics and kitchen are entirely two different spheres on either side of the universe, I wonder what Soniaji had to say about it ? And to top it all, the so called man of the masses, our very own, the great Churchill Alemao says we Goans squeal like pigs, what a bunch of ungrateful pigs they themselves have turned out to be. Oh God, when will we Goans elect political leaders who will work with earnestly and dedication, for the betterment of Goa and Goans or will we ever ?
